Vintage-Inspired Magazine Clutches! I've been doing a lot of crafty decoupaging lately with my stash of fashion magazines. Throughout the years I've been collecting these foreign fashion magazines, vintage books, and favorite editorials so being inspired by the 1970's style magazine clutches, I've created a handful of these plastic clutches. I used to see these coveted clutches in vintage shops. The story is that they look like you're toting magazines, rather than your valuables in a pocketbook.

Inspired by Carrie Bradshaw carrying a vintage magazine clutch in an episode of Sex in the City.

Also, Rihanna reviving the fun trend with a modern version of the clutch.

I've been working hard, covering myself with screen print ink and running to sewing class. I have a new obsession: sewing machines. I have a reliable overlock & sewing machine, but I came across two other sets and you guessed it. I bought and lugged them home. So now I have four white sewing boxes, that look as though I'm hiding orphan puppies in them since they look like kennels.

my dream studio belongs to my friend, emi. she loves vintage clothing and sewing any dress she ever dreams of owning.

emi has the cutest pet sheep named otto. like her owner, otto loves pretty accessories like red bows and gold cap shoes. together, they love creating fashionable goods as much as wearing them.

emi and otto bought this shabby chic snack table from the local flea market. the perfect sunday morning would be cookies and scouring the market for cute vintage gems.

New additions to the shop! Lovely dresses with gorgeous prints and a little bit of vintage designer like Diane von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, Harrods and Malia. Since we live near downtown Los Angeles, close to a little known -okie kind of the largest- garment factory, I couldn't resist looking for great basics like a quality comfortable form fitting t-shirt aka American Apparel. It's a great basic under vintage tube dresses, jumpers, and perfect for all your layering needs. I'm hatching up new plans and hopefully they will be in the shop soon.

Sometimes I have attachment issues with the vintage in our shop. I fall in love with most pieces. This vintage hippie dress was from a sweet lady who told me she wore it once for her graduation in the 70s. It was in mint condition and I tailored it to a shorter hem. Then it was shipped to Candie who wears it so well. Her hippie chic ensemble is perfect! Now the dress is having a great adventure with a cute new owner and I couldn't be any happier =)

I love to spend time in book stores looking at international magazines. It helps me from adding to my massive magazine collection at home. The storage problem is getting out of hand and seeing that I'm a packrat, the thought of throwing away any glossy is painful. So instead, I take quick snapshots with my cell camera and skip home happy with inspiration.

Must learn to crochet and make my own ornate yarn necklace . . .
a tad too short, but these dresses are so flowy and cute.

I recently visited Tokyo. It was better than I had imagined it to be. One of the biggest differences was the sheer amount of people I was amongst on a daily basis. Just crossing the street, there must have been 200 ppl passing by me. The metro system was like standing in a sardine jar during peak hours, yet everyone was so polite and chill. The best part of course is the food, but even better was the fashion. Everyone there puts effort into their look. I was like a happy kid, always in awe. Like ohhhh and ahhh over headphones, little socks, cute necklaces. I gleefully handed over my money for the great products. Here are some random street photos I took:

This is hands down the coolest belt/purse I've seen! We were people watching and my boyfriend spotted this girl with the most utterly unique belt-purse. The details alone take a while to thoroughly absorb. Just an interesting mix with all the details and nic nacs yet the subdued color theme makes it work.

Visual Overload in September Issues
I've been sifting through the gorgeous editorials found in the September issues of British Vogue, Vogue and TeenVogue. The silhouettes have swayed back to simple lines yet the hemline is shorter! That's fun news for the seamstress and happy hunter in me. Hemlines are never too short this season when minis can be worn alone, with black tights, or layered. I've found some great dresses that emulate those cute dresses similar to the Biba dresses featuring long sleeves puffed at the wrist in a mod/60s cut and a black jumper perfect for layering as those seen in Marc Jacobs fall line.
